Animalearn's Humane Education Curriculum

Meets No Child Left Behind Standards

Animalearn, distributor of the humane education curriculum Next of Kin, is making it easier for teachers to incorporate humane education into their lesson plans.

Next of Kin is free to educators and is now aligned to both the national and Pennsylvania standards for English Language Arts, Science Education, and Mathematics. It is available in two versions: elementary and middle school.

The federal No Child Left Behind Act mandates that educators meet specific guidelines in their lesson plans. With the newly aligned curriculum, teachers can integrate the values of humane education into their classroom while meeting federal and state educational standards for other required subjects.

Director of Animalearn Laura Ducceschi states, “Now when teachers integrate Next of Kin into their classroom, students can learn to be more humane, kind, socially aware, non-violent, and conscientious, while increasing their scores in the critical subject areas of math, reading, and science. It’s a win-win situation.”

Educators interested in incorporating humane education into their classroom can contact Animalearn for more information.

Animalearn, the education division of the American Anti-Vivisection Society, is dedicated to assisting educators and students in finding non-animal methods to teach and study science. Towards that objective, Animalearn created The Science Bank, a comprehensive lending program of over 300 CD-ROMS, realistic models, and many more humane products that enable educators to teach and students to learn anatomy, physiology, and psychology lessons without harming animals. Compassionate students and educators can access this program online at www.Animalearn.org or call (800)729-2287.
